Why energy storage at home?

The following are some of the key factors driving the growing interest in home energy storage:

· Achieving energy independence

The main reason homeowners choose energy storage systems is the desire for energy independence. The ability to use the energy generated at any time is ideal when the power grid does not supply electricity.

In plans presented for next year, the government announces the introduction of financial support for agricultural enterprises that focus on generating and storing their own electricity.

It is estimated that households using photovoltaics with a properly selected energy storage management system can be up to 90% energy independent.

· Energy stability

Voltage fluctuations in the main grid or even unexpected weather phenomena will not prevent consumers from accessing electricity. This is a major advantage, especially in areas where power grids fail frequently. Households using stored energy may not even notice when they are disconnected from the grid – all appliances continue to work.

In situations where the load on the power grid exceeds the usual limits, there is an increasingly frequent risk of a so-called blackout. This term refers to sudden interruptions in the supply of electricity in a large area as a result of disturbances in the transmission infrastructure. An energy storage, which immediately stabilizes the voltage in the electrical system of your home, protects against this type of anomalies.

· Saving electricity

In addition to energy stability, savings through the use of an energy storage system also play an important role. By investing in a dedicated device adapted to the photovoltaic system used, the energy generated can be fully used by household appliances. Unlike net metering, we avoid losses and the need to buy electricity when sunlight is not sufficient to generate enough energy.

If the configuration of the energy storage system allows it, it is possible to charge the device at a lower rate when electricity purchase costs are lower and discharge it when there is a greater energy demand and therefore higher kilowatt-hour prices apply. This model is particularly applicable to families whose members work and study during the day and consume significantly more energy in the afternoon.

· Eco-energy in the first place

Energy storage systems allow energy to be stored and resources to be managed efficiently, thus helping to reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the grid. In Poland, the majority of electricity is still generated in fossil fuel power plants. Their use is a heavy burden on the environment. The generation, storage and use of solar energy is a much more environmentally friendly source of electricity.

Home energy storage

An energy storage device is essentially a device for storing electrical energy. It can come from surplus RE plants, for example, or be taken from the power grid. Thanks to this device, we can not only store energy but, above all, manage resources
